Dr.E

Dr.E is genuine, and cares each student. He knows the materials very well and he has a lots of high yield stuffs on his slides which were helpful. Only negative is that Dr.E usually takes a long time (>30 min) to go over each question and he went over all questions that I got right. Other than that, i really enjoyed learning materials with him and I would not have passed without him. Thank you, Dr.E!

Hurray for a Passing Score!

Dr. E’s consistent and kind-but-tough coaching helped me to stay on track and self-discipline through my COVID-extended COMLEX prep. The most helpful resources were by far the test strategies - I believe these helped me over the passing-score hump! I wish that all of the lectures were updated and rerecorded to improve quality and keep each under 50 minutes for comprehension and focus improvement, as well as that the workbooks better matched and followed the video content. I would also love if the workbooks were printed in color. I wish the question bank more closely mirrored testing conditions and that more information was provided in answer explanations. From an OMM perspective, there is some errata that needs corrected as well as less fact statements and more understanding explanations. But having weekly and later on bi-weekly one-on-one meetings was very helpful to improve my weaknesses and assess my progress. It was lovely to not feel like I was facing this mountain alone! Thanks Dr. E and NWMR!

Great resource but not necessary for success

I very much so appreciated Dr. E. Fantastic guy with tons of knowledge and a wonderful passion for helping others succeed. I couldn’t be happier to work with him and to be challenged by him! However, I can not say the tutoring as a whole was very useful. As most classes like this, it is a disgustingly overpriced resource designed to feed off of the fear of unconfident medical students. I only signed up for this because I was forced to by my school and I wish I didn’t have to because the amount of help I received (which I did find beneficial) was nowhere near worth the amount of money this cost me. If it were up to me I would never pay $1,600 for anything like this. Unbelievable cost. I believe I would have passed this exam with or without the tutoring… it is unfortunate that so many companies find profit in this exploited niche environment. Again, Dr. E was amazing and I would be happy to work with him for a far less price. I really appreciated his test taking strategies and I really appreciated the level of customization I was granted to design my own study plans with him. He also allowed me to set up private sessions with a specialist tutor in biostatistics. These are all good things. But again, absolutely nowhere near worth $1,600. We are capable of passing these exams on our own. But we are led to believe that we are inferior. The NBME, NBOME, and medical schools all across the country instill fear upon us. We feel we won’t pass unless we pay money and receive professional help. This is not the case. And I am personally disgusted by the motives behind medical education in the United States. We are here to help people and to make the world a better place… not to make money. I wish I could leave a better rating but in my opinion, the price alone outweighs all the good. Regardless, I appreciate the help I received from NMR and hope that they may continue to help students like me for years to come.

Outdated references & lackluster explanations

What sets Qbanks like UWORLD apart from other resources is that they provide explanations for each answer choice. The explanations outline why the wrong answers are wrong and how test takers may have been led astray, and why the right answers are most correct for the stem. Explanations like some of the ones I've seen that simply say "it is what it is" is not sufficient at our level. I noticed some of the references used for some questions were incredibly old. Old enough that the pubmed links were no longer available. I understand guidelines can change frequently, that's why you have a team to keep your Qbank material current at least within the last 5 years.
