Worst experience ever
This should have been a simple process to obtain a new code signing certificate to replace our current one which expired on Feb 5 2021. Our business details had not changed.
We paid for the certificate in December 2020.
I placed the certificate request in late January 2021 expecting the process to tak 2 or 3 days.
Instead, after no notifications from Sectigo, I contacted our sales rep. She created a support ticket and we received an email stating that we had not provided the required signed forms.
- At this stage our existing certificate has expired
- Why had we not been notified of this when I placed the request?
I downloaded the forms, signed them & then uploaded via the Sectigo validation manager.
However my Sectigo portal provided next to no information about my request, nor could I confirm what forms had been uploaded.
After another day of nothing I contacted Sectigo via live chat
- Only because my sales rep said that was the best way forward. Nothing in my request details explained this.
- I use Firefox. The live chat is not available via that browser. I tried on several PCs. I had to use Edge / Chrome to proceed.
Following a live chat call, we finaly received the verification email during which I was told tha I had to resubmit the forms because I used our 'new' postcode which was different to the one originally registered with Sectigo. I was alos told that the verificatin was complete and I could obtain the certificate shortly after I uploaded the new forms.
- I downlaoded, signed and submitted the new forms via validation manager.
- a 4MB limit is imposed on uploads. One of the forms was 4.5MB so I was forced to compress it & upload the .rar file.
Another day goes by and still no change. I emailed my sales rep again.
The next day I get an email from Sectigo giving me options of completing the verification electronically or resubmitting the hard copy forms.
- I tried the electronic path, Several times, with several browsers.
- In each case I ended up at an 'error has occurred' page. I have attached a screen shot
- So I took the hard copy option and replied to the email with the signed forms attached
At this point I am still waiting on Sectigo to complete this process
- Validation manager still shows the request at the 'verifying phone number' status. Even though the call has been made & being told it was successful.
cant wait to see what happens next...
