Support Workers
Generally need training. Also some have the wrong attitudes, for example, they are doing us favours by working for us (acting like they are not being paid for it... huh... go figure!). Tell them Staff on the floor at Woolies work a lot harder ( in general) and earn less than LF support workers so be satisfied, even grateful to work for us. Further realise that we members would love to be employed and would appreciate it. They also need to realise it is a serious and important role they fulfil and not an opportunity to do as little as possible ie you are being paid and need to perform like in any other job. For example a support person took me by car on a 1 hour drive to an appointment and never once initiated a conversation. There were no issues, no negativity she just left all the ‘entertaining/socialising effort to me. I felt annoyed as she was the one being paid not me but I was the one putting the effort in. Tell them we look forward to the social contact so please do your part!
