Beautiful & Creative Garments. Like Wearing a Piece of Art.

I very much enjoy wearing the Johnny Was label and am impressed with the creativity and quality of the products. I do wish the sizing on the products was more consistent. I sometimes purchase from a local boutique store in my town but they have limited items. I am not that close to a Johnny Was store and do many of my purchases online. I also like to take advantage of the sales when possible. However, since I am not usually able to try things on at a store I find that I have ended up being stuck several times with items that did not fit properly. I generally purchase a medium but have had situations where a medium size arrives and it fits like it's a XXL. Other times I've purchased medium and it's too snug. As a result my closet contains sizing from small to Extra Large because the sizing is inconsistent. At times I end up refraining from purchasing sale items because I don't want to be stuck with something that doesn't fit and cannot be returned. I find this to be frustrating. Also, the majority of women are not 5'10" so often times I have had to have items hemmed, including sleeve lengths because they are too long. I also try to stay away from the velvet products at this point as well as anything with fringe. They are lovely but they need to be dry cleaned and that is a major hassle to me. It would be fabulous if you could find a product that was velvet-esque but was able to go into the washing machine or be hand washed at the very least. Another thing I find annoying is that all your clothing models are 5'9" or 5'10" and a size 4. I realize this is the norm for the industry but I can't imagine this is a real representation of your consumers. When I have been in to several of your store locations I often see middle aged (or older) women who range in size and most I see are size 10 and above. I also love the fact that the styles are designed for women who are XXL. All women want to look and feel beautiful and I feel the Johnny Was label delivers this experience. However, it would be nice if it wasn't always pitched to your purchasing population with some "twenty something" size 4 model. I also appreciate that you do have your token women of color on the site as well but it would be wonderful to see even more diversity on the site with various ranges of ages, sizes and ethnicity. A philanthropy group that I co-lead recently sponsored a showing of an amazing movie about body image called "Embrace" so that it could be viewed in our area by local women and middle school and high school aged girls. The trailer is easily accessed on You-tube if you are interested. In the movie they addressed the fact that most designers do not want to be associated with large sizes. A stunningly beautiful size 10 model (who was at least 5'10") told how she was always cast as a plus size model even though her body was proportionately ideal. The movie highlights how there is a huge movement of women who are sick of the messages that the media is stuffing down their throats. My point with all of this is that I find Johnny Was to be a unique brand and I would love to see the company become a pioneer in embracing the movement of acceptance of women of all shapes, ages, colors and sizes. This could be an opportunity for your brand to be a change maker on how the industry portrays fashion along with the potential for increased profits and organic growth. Thank you for contacting me and allowing me to voice my opinions. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. T

Pretty velvet back

off-topic comment: I'm a frequent online sale shopper. My issue is that your sizes are not consistent, and exchanging is a hassle/not always possible. E.G., I have 2 button-down 3J Workshop cotton shirts, size small. One is loose, blousy, largish, and the other is fitted, kind of slim, very nice. The description for the former did not indicate a relaxed fit. It would help me (and others, I'm sure) to be given some details about differing fits. You used to indicate the model's size and the size she was wearing. Very helpful! Thanks, Cindy Hartley

Great clothes

The quality and beauty of the shirts I have ordered is beyond compare.. the material softens the more you wear it and finally feels like you could sleep on it. Sometimes, sizing is a little off but quality is fabulous.
