Good product, but Feeling Duped!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Greetings and thanks for the opportunity to share my experience with Vanguard, related to my recent purchase of a U-Yoke for my Vanguard ESPOD CX 203AP tripod.
Four or Five years ago, I purchased a Vortex spotting scope and a Vanguard ESPOD CX 203AP tripod from Scheels in Eau Claire, WI. The Sporting goods staff at Scheels recommended this combo, which I really like. I purchased the U-Yoke for my ESPOD 203AP tripod because I want to be able to convert it to “shooting sticks” for my rifle. It wasn’t obvious to me how to do this or if it is possible, so I began an email dialogue with your “service Center” folks beginning on December 7, 2022. Your service center staff eventually informed me that all I need to do is remove the QS-36 Quick Shoe that was attached to the bottom of the spotting scope and attach it to the U-Yoke, then reattach the QS-36 back onto the top of the ESPOD 203AP tripod. This, I was told, would accomplish the conversion I was seeking. Thus I purchased a U-Yoke, along with a QuestT62U tripod w/U-Yoke. The U-Yoke itself seems to be an OK product, but upon its’ arrival and me mounting it on top of the ESPOD 203AP tripod, via the QS-36, I discovered that the tightening screw you use to set the height of the head on the ESPOD 203AP will not hold the desired height when I placed my rifle in the U-Yoke. After playing around with the center telescoping pole tightener for a while I just could not get it to hold, so I once again contacted your “Service Center” folks. I eventually was told that; “the tripod you have (ESPOD 203AP) is a lightweight tripod, and not designed to support the weight of your rifle. I might suggest keeping the tripod for your scope and using the Quest T62U for the rifle.” I explained that my issue is that I need the extra height the ESPOD 203AP tripod will give me at one of my shooting sites, that the Quest62U is about 10” too short. The reply I received was not what I expected, “consider a new tripod that supported more weight.”
Please check out the email dialogue I am referring to, which began on 12/07/2022. I feel I was intentionally misled, that they lead me to believe the conversion of the ESPOD 203AP to a shooting tripod was possible.
I guess the bottom line of this “evaluation” is that I your U-Yoke is an OK product, but your service center needs to be “checked” for duping me into buying the U-Yoke for my ESPOD 203AP tripod.
Thanks
