I'm not quite sure, actually, about Nisolo. My husband and I each have a pair of shoes, he has the Chukka boot and I had the smoking slipper. Each shoe is very beautiful and clearly skillfully made. My husband says his boots are comfortable, but I had my smoking slipper for about a year and tried everything to break it in. I wore them with thick socks to try and soften the leather, used mild heat and massage, I wore them out in town and to work and in the neighborhood, but nothing worked to break them in - they caused me so much pain in the toe box and on the Achilles tendon base at the heel because the leather was so thick and unforgiving. I finally gave up and contacted Nisolo and it was recommended I resell them, which I did.
I'm not sure what a perfect response is, but I don't think I would spend the money on another pair of Nisolo's in a different style for fear the same thing would happen. Expensive shoes, even stilettos, should not cause pain on the skin or on the foot from the shoe itself because of the superb craftsmanship and material. I have lots of expensive shoes and they never cause pain like that, but these were awful for so long, so I don't think I would take the risk spending more money at this company.
But my husband really likes his and it seems like the company is trying to connect people with great products and craftspeople.
