Despite a delivery estimate of between of 3-5 days and 2-4 weeks, the lamp took eight weeks to arrive. When it did arrive, it was fitted with a European plug. Very disappointing.
The Lampe Gras 317 Table Lamp, and associated light bulb, was ordered on 4 Apr 25. The delivery estimate on the website stated that the lamp would be “in your home in 2-4 weeks”; with a further comment that “if your order is in stock, you should have your item(s) within 3-5 days of placing your order, but please note there can be a small increase in delivery time during busy periods”. This led me to except delivery between 7 Apr and 2 May.
I twice called, 15 Apr and 30 Apr, to enquire as to the delivery date. It was explained that the lamp was not in stock and was being made to order. I took this to mean that the delivery would be closer to the 2-4 weeks, vice the 3-5 days.
When the lamp did eventually arrive, eight weeks after ordering, I was disappointed to discover that it was fitted with a European plug — despite being ‘made to order’ for a UK customer. I was unable to use the lamp until I either cut the European plug off and replaced it with a British plug, or bought an adaptor.
The customer service staff were courteous and helpful; however, they’re apologies for the delay in delivery did not mitigate the poor service. Conversely, rather than me having to call to chase the delivery date, a pre-emptive e-mail / call to explain that the lamp was being made to order and would not meet ANY of the delivery timescales stated on the website would have been preferable.
Furthermore, either state clearly on the website that the lamp comes fitted with a European plug (maybe with a link offering an adaptor for UK plug sockets underneath), or have it made with a UK plug.
