My first Field Service Visit

I found the event OK , but not outstanding. Of the speakers at the event some where good, but many left me wondering 'what was their message' and what were they really trying to share. One person coming to the stage with opening remarks around 'drawing a short straw' and being asked 'to talk about something different' - just made me wonder why i should even bother listening. Some clearly had not really prepared. I listened to three panel sessions, one was good, another OK, and one was - umm! On a positive note -- the mix of vendors attending the event as really good. i had some great discussions with many of them. having attended many conference is similar nature in the past, but not field service, i think what was missing was a theme, and maybe a few proven key note speakers who can bring something both different and aspiring to an event. Given moving to a service orientated culture seems to me where many business are headed - i think there is tremendous opportunity for a conference like this in the future. Sorry to be a little negative, but I hope this this might be more useful for the value you can offer in the future.

Ok. could have been much better

I attended Wednesday and Thursday planery presentations as well as some of the breakouts Positives a) Sessions led by people from industry were fine b) Expo had a variety of different vendor solutions. allowed an opportunity to understand what is going on in the industry Improvement opportunity a) Few vendor-led presentations were weak and somehow disconnected with reality b) Panel discussions were boring especially the one on safety in field operations. I am not sure what was being discussed but they were far from reality and seemed like the panelist were disconnected with what actually goes on in the field c) I talked to participants and most of them wanted to understand the business case for AR related technology but none of vendors have any answers or in any panel discussion these questions were properly answered

There were to many sales

There were to many sales people pursuing meetings and opportunities leading up to the show (calls, emails, etc) Some of the content was good but also some of the titles of the sessions were odd. For example, one was called something like “3 days to differentiate your service” and was essentially a Salesforce presentation and demo. It was not a bad presentation just did not reflect the title. I went two days and that was plenty of time. Logistically the show was well set up with many options and lots of activities (even in the evening). It was my first time and maybe after registering (before event), ask people if it there first time and explain to them how things work to give them good idea.

Overall, good event

The good: Overall, the show was well organized and had good quality of attendees. The cocktail evening in the expo hall on Monday was really successful for us and provided great networking. Cons: The wifi was terrible in the expo hall, making it difficult to do demos and capture leads. The event on Tuesday night seemed poorly organized with low attendance (it seemed like mostly vendors there). Not being able to stay onsite due to the hotel selling out was a huge inconvenience and probably contributed to low attendance on the second night (people going back to their hotels instead of staying on site).
