Having successfully applied an epoxy
Having successfully applied an epoxy floor using Rust-Oleum in my previous home with zero issues, I decided to try polyaspartic after seeing marketing claiming it as a superior alternative. My experience with ArmorPoxy’s DIY kit was a complete headache from start to finish.
Here are the main issues:
* Extremely Tight Working Window: The 10–15 minute working time makes this product very unforgiving for a DIY application. Rushing to spread the coating before it dries creates so much stress and result in unnecessary imperfections across the floor.
* Inconvenient Ratios: The kit ships full 1-gallon buckets of Part A and Part B, but instructions say to mix only 50% at a time to prevent heat buildup. Measuring exact halves in a rush adds unnecessary difficulty—shipping half-gallon containers would make far more sense. Why not?
* Poor Packaging & Quality Control: The original shipment arrived with loose caps on both the chemical and pigment containers, leading to leaks. This is a quality control failure at packaging, not a shipping handler issue. This was very disappointed!
* Shipping Delays & Disruption: Waiting a full week for replacement materials completely disrupted my house while garage items remained crammed inside house, it has been very unpleasant week for family!
* Suspect Storage Conditions: The replacement buckets arrived covered in a thick layer of dust, raising real concerns about shelf life and storage conditions.
* Severe, Persistent Smell: Weeks post-application, there is still a heavy, lingering chemical odor in the garage that raises health concerns.
* Unhelpful Customer Support: When issues arose, customer support was completely unuseful, especially on the strong smell. Instead of offering real solutions, their primary response was simply to insist the issue was not on their end. I followed their instructions guide accurately. If the step was missed in the guide, it was their problem.
*
Bottom Line: I strongly recommend NOT buying this product. If you want to coat your garage, stick to trusted epoxy brands like Rust-Oleum from Home Depot or Lowe's. Polyaspartic from ArmorPoxy is far too unforgiving for DIYers, and the company will not take responsibility after sale.
