Horrible experience, especially with regards to communication
I had a truly terrible experience with Jewels by Johan, particularly when it comes to communication, but also with the final product itself.
I placed my order from India, and this was my first time ever ordering a ring, an engagement band, so naturally I wanted to be extremely careful and make sure everything was perfect. I am not an expert in jewellery by any means, which is exactly why I reached out proactively. I emailed them to understand how sizing works internationally and specifically requested a consultation.
During the consultation, my girlfriend and I discussed ring sizing with Trinity. We were told that while there may be minor variations between jewellers, ring sizes are generally standard. We clearly and repeatedly stated that my girlfriend’s ring size in India is 10. 25, this was mentioned multiple times over email and again during the call. My girlfriend is also very petite, which should have been immediately obvious, especially during a video consultation where designs meant specifically for her were being discussed.
Despite all of this, we somehow ended up receiving a ring that was nearly twice the correct size. As someone outside the jewellery industry, it’s hard to imagine or estimate how drastic that difference would be, but since then, over a dozen other jewellers have independently told us that this size would be considered a men’s ring 99% of the time and that such a mismatch should absolutely have been flagged, especially when sizing was explicitly discussed and confirmed.
On top of the sizing issue, I’m also unhappy with the surface finish of the ring itself. Given that this is a custom engagement band, the finishing fell well below expectations and did not match the level of quality that was promised or implied during the consultation process.
What made this experience truly infuriating, however, was the complete lack of communication and accountability afterward. My mother was travelling to the US for a wedding over Christmas, so I placed the order well in advance. Even then, I received no updates whatsoever unless I initiated the conversation myself. When my fiancée reached out to Trinity directly, she received no response. When we booked a consultation slot, no one showed up for the meeting.
At no point did anyone take responsibility, acknowledge the seriousness of the mistake, or offer a reasonable solution to make things work. For something as meaningful and emotionally significant as an engagement ring, this level of negligence and poor communication is completely unacceptable.
Overall, this was a horrible experience from start to finish
