The 30 Day Policy
This was my first time shopping for an engagement and hopefully the last. I had no idea what I was looking for in a ring when shopping for one, but thank you to Anthony Cappola for assisting me and providing his professional help/opinion along the way. At the end of the day, I think the ring and stone I picked were the right choice. (I'll know when i get it.).
There was one issue that made me very frustrated. I ended up buying a princess cut diamond the first time around. The ring took about 25 days to get to me. When I received the ring I was not happy with it. The diamond did not sparkle like i thought it would and I did not like that was able to see the inclusions. When I think 100% eye clean I think, "great I will not be able to see anything" NOT "great I wont be able to see anything from a foot away". Since I did not like the ring I wanted to send it back, but since it took 25 days for the ring to get to me and i received the ring on a Friday afternoon I had to wait till Monday to get the info i needed to send the ring back. Since I only had 3 days to send it back I had to expedite the delivery and pay $120 to make sure the ring would get back on time.
Why is it that I have 30 days to return the ring from the point of purchase when I got the ring on day 25? This policy makes no sense to me. It is like saying, " Here is your ring, but I'll give it to you on day 25 then you can see if you like it and if not send it back with limited time.". Also, because i got this ring on a Friday afternoon it shortened my time to send it back. To me the customer should be able to hang on to the ring for at least 30 days before deciding. Granted most people would know before then.
I would suggest re-looking at this policy to ensure that other customers don't have the same problem. It would be beneficial to possibly extend the return policy so people like me don't have to spend the extra money to expedite the shipment.
