A Feature, not an Eyesore
Our very snooty homeowners association doesn't want us to put up solar panels that have visible racking or wiring. The Sunpower array on our roof looks great and functions wonderfully. It is on the back, or alley side. Next we want to apply for another array, on the front, and we think we can get it approved with the Sunpower panels that look like a feature not an eyesore. The array on the back has breaks because existing exhaust pipes on the back required them. The array on the front would be a beautiful single block, not broken up at all.
We've had no complaints with the service itself and we have had a reduction in our electric bill that is equal to our payments for the panels. As the cost of energy delivered by our electric provider (Duke) goes up, we will eventually own our array(s) and from that point on we will be getting a large proportion of our energy at no current cost.
