A terrible experience - but our things arrived
We decided to choose Baggage Hub to ship 7 boxes of items to India from UK as they offered the cheapest and seemingly transparent service of the quotes we received. They also outlined that it would take 5-10 days for things to arrive so we had everything shipped 12 before we flew to India, ready to arrive by 26th.
As we drove to the airport to fly, we were calling Baggage Hub to ask why our items were still in a warehouse in UK. There had been no contact from BH to explain what was happening; whenever throughout the process there was an issue, we had to contact them to get things moving forward. On 3 occasions we ended an expensive phone call from India to UK with a promise from BH that we would be called back with news. Not once did this call come, leaving us in the dark as to the whereabouts of our possessions.
Finally - about a week after we had arrived - our goods were put in the hands of a courier (DHL) and they started to move. But when they reached the city of destination, they stopped. No word from Baggage Hub. They spent 3 days there and we - again - had to call BH to find out what was going on. Only then did they put us in touch with a local handler to get things moving again. Having assured us there would be no duty charges on our contents (I asked the question directly), I had to attend the opening of our boxes at customs to check for items that would incur duty payments. BH had told me nothing of this protocol in India. Due to an old stereo in our possession, we were required to pay ₹4,000 and a further ₹6,500 for the charges we were told directly that we would not incur (15% of our original quote).
The entire cost of shipping was double our original quote. And the service was absolutely terrible.
But our things did eventually arrive ... with damage to one of the electrical items.
