Not the best experience
After weeks of planning to send less than 100kg of personal effects to Portugal in order to arrive in a specific 10 day slot we arranged a series of dates for colection and expected delivery. Paid a £50 deposit and got charged extra £1.50 for using a card which they obviously just pocketed because the receipt was for £50 only.
The boxes were packed, we had to do the inventory and fill out all the other documents then scan these into the computer to send back to BH. A real faff as the on-line system is pretty poor.
The collection day came, the van arrived and he was expecting just one box - he made it clear that he wasn't happy.
The final invoice arrived next day and was settled with a direct bank transfer payment - incurring no surcharge, and a confirmation email sent.
Then, nothing... I waited for some response but still nothing.
After almost a week I called to check the progress and was bitterly disappointed to find that our final payment was 'missing' and that the consignment had been left on hold. No contact from BH to chase the payment even though had I sent an email immediately after making the payment.
After I contacted BH by telephone to establish what was happening they promised to call back the same afternoon - no call, no surprise!. At 4:30 I called again to find that everyone had gone, leaving a trainee to handle the 'phones.
The next day, over a week after pickup, our payment was located (it was in the bank apparently) and the shipment sent on it's way.
By now the timing was all messed up and the delivery window was now closed, my wife had to be elsewhere and could not be there for delivery. Luckily we had the stuff sent to her place of work where at least someone could receive it.
Net result is that it took almost a month to get hands on the 4 boxes, no apology from BH.
At least the stuff arrived safely, but that was the only redeeming factor.
As a first time user of this type of service this was not the best experience at all.
