The Firm topper is just that, firm, very supportive, and I believe it’s helping, along w pillow under knees and thighs, my hip and lower back pain, the reason for which I bought it. My husband bought the soft and that along w towel under the side of pillow under his head is helping his shoulder pain. There was never a bothersome smell and it never makes us hot but we also use a cotton protector overlayed w a cotton sheet.

We liked our hybrid mattress, but it was a bit too soft. This is the perfect topper to add firmness but still be comfortable. No "sinking" feeling like memory form and much cooler sleeping.
