Found it on par with my NASM-CNC. Wish there was an actual sitting exam per higher Ed courses.

Good information; No practical application; no minimal competency standards

As a Doctor of Health science and an owner of a facility whose mission statement is: In collaboration with other healthcare professionals, we enhance the well-being of our clients through restorative exercise, I was disappointed that there was a zero practical application proficiency examination. I became a PN1 practitioner because in order to recommend this certification to my staff and/or co-treat with a PN1 nutrition coach, I myself must understand the information, education, and instruction of the PN1 certification. At the end of the course I can honestly say that I was informed about nutrition coaching, however because there is zero practical application I do not have a deep understanding of the subject matter, nor am I ready, trained. Proficient, and efficient. I must contextualize the above by stating that although there is an attempt to encourage the PN candidate via practical exercises and case studies throughout the course, it was on a voluntary basis. To paraphrase Socrates, knowledge is not power, but rather it is the application of the knowledge that is powerful because the application leads to understanding. In summary, the course is informational and educational but due to a lack of a mandatory practical it is not, in my opinion, instructional and as such my concern is that there are no standards imposed by precision nutrition to ensure at least a minimal level of competency. Thank you in n advance for reading my review.

Not the best

I did learn some from this course but do I feel confident enough to give someone nutrition advice not really. The basics I knew before starting the program. That is why I gave it two stars maybe for someone who doesn’t know the basics it will be a good program. Don’t recommend spending your money on this course.

Not advanced enough.

I honestly just didn't find the course great for someone who had previously done a sports nutrition module alongside their PT / fitness instruction course. Lack of evidence based content - somatotypes still included?! I read the first few chapters, left the book down for about 6 months, then just did the MCQ exam and passed everything. I would have liked it to be more challenging & learn new, more advanced topics. It was just too basic for me, sorry!

Not what I had hoped for...

I have gone through the PN1 certification, but I also did the 1 year program as a client to experience the PN approach from the other side. While I enjoyed the information in the PN1 course, as well as some of their philosophies around coaching, I really was unimpressed with their coaching program as a client. The coach I had was not open to my feedback at all and wouldn't listen to my needs. I was already in very good shape (about 13% body fat) and I felt like he kept treating me as if I was 100 pounds overweight and didn't know how to track my food. It was very frustrating and it wasn't a good experience at all. Maybe I just got a bad coach, but I feel that responsibility also belongs to the company that put him in a position to work with people.
