Good, but could be better
I bought the chocolate and vanilla protein powder sample packs. They were very tasty and mixed well with water. I was impressed by their commitment to offering gig-quality products with clean ingredients. However, I recently learned that KOS is now in Walmart. KOS says this is because they feel everyone deserves access to good food with clean ingredients. Which, I agree with. When asked what they had to do to meet price points to be in Walmart, I learned that they reduced the amount of servings per container so as the be in Walmart. This feels wrong. While this expands access to their product to a wider audience, it is not the same amount of product sold elsewhere. It isn’t really a savings if people need to buy the product more often. It feels like a lie and as if the company is selling out. Walmart and other big box stores have reputations for lower quality ingredients or for changing the quantity to appear cheaper. Partnering with them makes me wonder about the commitment to quality that KOS espouses to. If they will compromise their product size to get in front of more people, what else will they compromise on? Do they really care about their consumers or only the bottom line? I’ll be continuing to search for a protein powder that tastes good and actually helps people.
