Helpful Devices

Eargos are comfortable to wear and almost entirely invisible. They do help me understand what I hear much better than before.

Eargo I Love ❤️ the improved understanding of speech in noisy or difficult to hear situations. Just what I needed.

My Review. I Love ❤️ the improved understanding of speech in noisy or difficult to hear situations. Just what I needed. Positives 1. Love the improved hearing or rather Love ❤️ the improved understanding of speech in noisy or difficult to hear situations. !!! 2. My attention span in meetings has improved since can understand so much better. I did not expect this! 3. The Eargo is a Small discreet size that is practically invisible to others. Easily fits in ear. Comfortable after a bit of getting used to (itched at first) 4. Rechargeable batteries with an intelligent portable charger & cradle that is itself a rechargeable battery that is very convenient and Saves about $200-$300/ year vs. cost of batteries for other hearing devices that use mercury batteries 5. Music sounds so much better! The Eargo amplifies the high frequencies I was missing and is unobtrusive and not intrusive to low and midrange sounds so music sounds full and adding the high notes makes the music sounds beautiful. 6. Singing in the Choir is better too! Others have told me they have to take out their hearing aids to sing as they can only hear themselves. With the Eargo I can hear the music better, and other singers better. 7. Purchase Price is so much lower than other high tech hearing solutions. The Eargo is about 1/3 the cost of the solution (Halo 2 $6,000) offered by my ENT doctor and Audiologist. That device also use expense batteries to power the blue tooth connection to the iPhone and have to be replaced regularly. 8. Direct sale to user and over the phone consulting is great. 9. The Eargo Hearing Professional is very helpful! They setup an appointment and She called me after I received my Eargos to advise on their use and to answer questions. Then setup a follow up appointment and She called me again to see if I was still doing well and answer question. Negatives (Most are minor, but would like to see these addressed in next version some day.) 1. Not waterproof. Next version needs to be waterproof 2. Changing volume or presets is not easy and is very obvious to others — clapping on your ear (banging on your head) can be embarrassing. 3. You have to cycle thru 3 of the 4 levels to turn the volume down. If you are on level 2 and want to go to level 1, you have to "clap" on your ear 3 times. (2 -> 3 -> 4 -> 1). 4. Next version of Eargo needs an easier less obvious, less embarrassing way to adjust. People look at you funny when you are banging on your head. 5. Ideas for a better way to set and select the Four fixed presets. — Ideally the unit would have artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to adjust for you to many situations and environments. — Why not talk to and get responses from Eargo like Amazon Echo? "Eargo, adjust for speech in a noisy room", or "Eargo, volume up," or "Eargo, volume down." — Or some way to gesture volume up or volume down. "Tap" on the Eargo. — Maybe a signal or tone (a pleasant sound or above our hearing range) generated by your smart phone using an Eargo app, so no one notices. B 6. Unexpected volume change! I was at a meeting sitting in an auditorium with a large group who applauded the speaker, the person just behind me clapped and it adjust my Eargo! 7. Right vs Left could be more obvious, only indicator is a small letter "R" and "L" that is hard to see. I have seen pictures of red and blue color tip Flexi Fibers on older models to show right and left at a glance. I do understand The Eargos are identical and you don't have to insert in a specific ear, but helps if you use a different size Flexi Fiber for one ear. 8. Inserting the Eargo into my right ear is easy. But Having trouble inserting the Eargo into my left ear. My left ear canal is smaller and bends more than my right. A smaller Flexi Fiber might help. Or use Oto-Ease lubricant or trim a Flexi Fiber to make smaller? 9. Small easy to lose. Yes can use the charging cradle to store, but some storage unit smaller would be nice. — Need some way to locate. Maybe a RFID that signals if it finds itself lost (assuming it can tell it is not in the ear and not in the charger cradle) 10. Eargo has trouble with wax. Wax is nature's ear cleaning and defense system, and Eargo has to coexist. Telling you to consult with your hearing professional how to clean your ears is not much help. Using a microfiber cleaning cloth several time a day seems to help. 11. My local Professional Audiologist would not even talk to me after I suggested Eargo vs their $6K hearing aids. Still need 1:1 with a Professional Audiologist to look at and see your ear. How do you get the local Professional Audiologists to see there is a need for a device like Eargo? May have to wait for Market forces to adjust their thinking. Eargo is going be a disruptive technology to $6,000 hearing aids for a lot of people with minor hearing loss.

Outstanding Upgrade

My new Eargo Plus aids replaced my set of the originals. I had hoped there would be some improvement, but was honestly amazed by how the new Eargo Plus improved so significantly over the originals... the clarity, the volume and the flexibility provided by the accessory pack truly impressed me... very well done Eargo!
