Affordable, but slightly offset

The price of this health insurance is honestly phenomenal. For what you pay, the coverage itself feels like a great value, and that’s the main reason I’m sticking around. That said, my experience with teletherapy was frustrating and off-putting. During sessions, it felt like the provider was far too quick to pile on diagnoses. Depression, anxiety, and other labels were brought up almost immediately, without much time spent actually understanding me or my situation. It came across as rushed and overly clinical, rather than thoughtful or personalized care. If you’re looking strictly at cost, this insurance is hard to beat. Just be cautious with teletherapy services. You may need to advocate for yourself and slow the process down if you want a more nuanced, human approach.

Good Online, Bad for In-Person Visits

I always have a good experience online, they reply fast and having meds mailed to the door is super useful. But I've only ever had bad experiences when I go to a doctor in person. The card is never activated, I got an email that even said it would be and then I got to the appointment and it didn't go through. I'm autistic and having the card fail and not being able to pay for it myself gave me a major meltdown.

My experience

I am grateful to River Health for providing coverage for my doctor’s appointment and for covering the pneumonia vaccine I was able to receive. Since that time, I found that for the therapy that I need, it is only available through Bright Health and the out of pocket cost of $299/mo. This is not affordable.
