Bokksu provides a great product but terrible service and has a tendency to sign you up for "subscriptions" when you are purchasing a one off or a one year subscription only. It feels dishonest. I purchased a few Bokksu boxes as gifts and was disgusted to find out that even though I signed up for one only, I was automatically billed for a second one. When I complained about it, NOTHING CHANGED. I actually signed up a friend for a Bokksu subscription for one year and was going to renew it this month when I found out it was automatically renewed. It cost over 500 dollars. WHO DOES THIS? I know gift giving follows etiquette in Japan but this company seems to be all about signing people up without their consent. I have complained about it at least three times in written form and got basically lip service in response. When a company takes money from you and does not offer a refund more than once, it is a dishonest and unethical company. It may not bother you about the automatic renewals without consent of the consumer, but it points to deeper issues around ETHICS.

The customer service is horrendous. I got a free bonus box but it was a duplicate of the first month I got and no one responds to emails here, ever. You have to go through 500 support agents who dont hang around long enough to get an understanding of any issues before they pass you off as "answered" to the next agent who does the same and nothing is ever resolved. I will never order with this company again.
