Product Return
The optical drive failed on my MacBook Pro a couple of days before the one-year extended warranty expired. Gainsaver (this is a plus) allows its customers to order a replacement for warranted items before it receives the return. Unfortunately (and this is the minus), in my case, a comparable machine was considerably more expensive. I ended up pay about $50 more for a MacBook Pro with a smaller hard-drive and less RAM than what I had before. A proper extended warranty would replace the defective item with no cost to the customer. Inasmuch as my MacBook was a 2011 model, current pricing is a bit inexplicable - why would the price be more now than a year ago when the machine’s a year older?
