When my Leica hunting binoculars were stolen they needed to be replaced quickly. My initial plan was to get Swarovskis, but even with the excellent deal offered, I couldn't part with that much $$$. While the Zeiss glass may not be as good as Swarovski glass, the differences were insignificant for my application. clear viewing adjustment seems to be an issue for me, I prefer a little less finer adjustment.

I needed to quickly acquire some binoculars while my other ones were being repaired. I saw Zhumell 8X42 binocs for $50. Because I have used and am a fan of the short-barrel waterproof Zhumell 8X42s, I thought I'd give their longer version a try, especially because they were only $50. However, I got barely what I paid for - the quality wasn't as good as I'd hoped. The field isn't quite flat and getting the image clarity that my short barreled ones provide just wasn't possible. They would be OK for a beginner or someone on a limited budget but an inexperienced user should make sure to have them checked out on arrival by someone who has some broader experience to make sure they are workable. I should also note that the eye-caps are supposed to hang on the neck strap but, because the slot through which the strap goes is split (presumably for ease of attaching the caps to the strap) the eye caps will be lost almost immediately. There's no reason for that sort of cheap material. The slots should be entire.
