I purchased this phone for
I purchased this phone for a 93-year old friend who lives in a nursing home and has no other access to a phone to make or receive calls. However, she has struggled to use it, despite its apparent simplicity. Part of the issue is that although the raised "real" buttons are an improvement over typical smart-phone 'screen' buttons, they are still a bit small for her to reliably press a single button at a time. The phone itself is overall smaller than I had expected, making it difficult for her to hold. Furthermore, when the number being dialled appears on the screen it wraps across 2 lines because of the small size of the screen, making it hard for an older person to follow the sequence of the numbers. Realising that she would be unable to follow the sequence of key presses to retrieve a stored number, I typed out a list of phone numbers for her and instructed her to just press the keys for the number, followed by the green button, but so far she is still needing to ask the nursing home staff to make a call for her. The bottom line is that although it was a good idea, so far it has not given her that little bit of independence i was aiming for, to allow her to call family or friends when she feels like talking to someone.
