We have purchased a pair of Dell servers for backup, we got 2 servers for less than the price of a new one. A great option for stretching the budget when need. This equipment is not ancient history but just a few years old. With 2 servers and 26 drive bays each, there are all sorts of options for redundancy you won't get buying a single new server. Equipment was shipped by FedEx which did all the brokerage and customs (we are in Canada) and they showed up in just a couple of days. We have now purchased a few Layer 3 Dell switches to replace some unmanaged units at remote sites.
