Patty Irish, daughter Caregiver, NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR & poa.
Thankyou for reminding us to check the alert system once a month. Due to Covid-19, when pushing the button on emergency, usually the fire department comes out first. Back at the beginning of the pandemic the button was pushed and the emt from the fire department was in an enclosed 3ftX5ft water closet with the patient neither wearing a mask. When the emt from the fire department in our small county of 19,000 w/3,000 positive covid patients (the city is a higher density of congestion geographically) 96%white & poor, 4 guys 3w/paper thin masks & 1/w/o a mask crowded into a tight kitchen speaking without the subject @ hand the patient's BP. Only one EMT took my father's BP & asked if he wanted to goto GUTHRIE our local hospital. Due to Covid-19 Dad refused, as I opened windows, & scolded the other emt's to move along to the subject at hand, Dad's BP & BG. One emt took offense, as he was the one talking the most without the patient in mind. Taking care of the matter, we moved on and Dad's BP started to rise. His BG was spot on and I continued to monitor Dad from his studio, he lives nextdoor to me. Syncope will occur with a new pacemaker(5-2019) patient with 6 chronic conditions. The next time emt's from the fire department came out, BP & BG was taken by his daughter, caregiver, poa & next door neighbor, as it was done all the previous times of a hypoglycemic, low bp (below 100 systolic) event, Dad was positioned by daughter in recliner chair off the crouched sitting position & BP & BG were on it's way up. That last time EMT's were refused at the door, who also were not wearing masks, again! Your device works perfectly and I am required to call you when Dad's BP systolically is below 100. You cannot help w/ the fire department emt's & their performance. But maybe you can help with communicating protocol safety. This is a small city in size but dense in population so during COVID-19, as a responsible caregiver for the last 30 years for my father, I am well aware of my father's locational limitations(population by zip code) until a vaccine is administered, masks should be worn & providence of testing should be displayed by all emt's, doctors, & nurses. We need to know as patients if the safety is be prodicalled and adhered to for the care & benefit of the patient Dad & I have been antibody tested 3 times & CAME UP NEGATIVE since 6-4-2020, we expect the same RESPECT from the local EMT's, DOCTORS & nurses. Please communicate what you can in changing the protical of PPE & displaying testing negative date on a card or sticker for the EMT's.
