Motus Crossbar 7 speed hub gear.

This is my second e-bike. The battery on the previous bike finally failed after about three year's use. Unfortunately the manufacturer had gone out of business in the meantime so it was impossible to get replacement batteries. Having investigated the possibility of refurbishing the battery, I concluded that it was either impossible or very expensive. I chose Raleigh because of their long history and stability. and was informed that the standard battery would be replaceable in the long term. I hope this is true. The bike is clearly of very high quality. The motor is so quiet that a bell is necessary to avoid startling people. A minor complaint is that the bell was nearly inaudible and soon stopped working at all. I have replaced it with the bell from my old bike. The hub gearbox generally works well provided one is careful to shift one gear at a time. Sometimes the gear only changes after a time delay. I have not yet worked out the reason for this. Maybe it is due to incorrect adjustment but if so this should have been fixed prior to delivery. Overall the bike is very enjoyable to ride and is clearly of very high quality. Hill climbing is easy, with the exception of the occasional gear change problem previously mentioned.

Nice bike

I am happy with the bike, it looks nice, the large tyres are smooth on the road and off-road gravel paths. The brakes are also good. I went for a 10 speed as I liked the idea of easier cleaning of the front rings. It's a shame the front chain ring isn't a bit larger, a couple of times I have been in the top gear and wanted to be able shift up one or two gears. I am contemplating switching out for a larger ring on the front. Overall, the bike is nice, light and the brakes work well.

Stowaway 7, folding bike

Required a folding bike as have taken up a new job and small studio apartment both having no appropriated safe storage space for a normal size bike. Bought the bike direct of the websidte, but using a £60 off voucher. The bike is used currently used daily for a 2 mile cycle each directions. On delivery, to say the bike is a folding bike, it came in a massive box (ca 1.5 ft wide, 4ft high and 8ft long!!!) would be nice to have received the bike in an appropriated sized box, especial as the bike on arrival only filled at about 1/3 of the box. Assembling the bike was relativity straight forward and took at most 5 minutes. The bike comes well equipped with mudguard and a pannier rack, something which is not standard on many, more expensive bikes. On arrive the cable for the brakes and gears were OK, however over the course of 2-3 weeks use, some minor adjustments have been required as the cables have stretched, but this is to be expected. The bike is easy to fold and unfold and takes about 1 minute. With its 20 inch wheels it is not the smallest or easiest to carry long distances however as with most things its a compromises between prices, size. Give the price of the stowaway bike, the build quality seem to be high, my only slight complaint is that the secondary safety catch is manufactured from plastic and wounder about its long term robustness. Overall I am very happy with the bikes, and would recommend for commuters how are limited by space.

Motus Tour a good commuting solution

First of all the bike was delivered exactly when Raleigh said it would come and I got a message from TNT first thing and the bike arrived 20 mins later, so far so good. I have used the Motus Tour for 10 days to do a 9 mile commute each morning and evening. The route has a series of humpback bridges and long stretches. The bike looks great and all the kit that comes on the bike means you are pretty much set as soon as you have panniers and good quality cycle lock. The built in lock is a great idea for instant security, but it needs augmenting, this is not a criticism though. The onboard computer is easy to use with a clear display and the lights are really good. My 2 small issues are that it is heavy and for those long straights I would not have minded another gear. All that said I love it and would probably give it 4.5 / 5.
