Saved my dog
Stella Blu was a social butterfly. She didn't understand she couldn't visit every neighbor unattended. She followed another dog through an automatic doggie door and was found in their kitchen. She chased pet chickens. We had to go pick her up multiple times and it seemed we were unable to control her adventurous nature.
It was sad as we had to consider re-homing this beautifully sweet pet. We live on 20 acres and underground fencing isn't an option. I was at a loss at how to contain her safely.
I discover Halo on-line, it seemed as i had a possible solution. I ordered it an started to try to learn the programming and calibration processes. To be honest the "Halo Dog Park" zoom option is the key to success. Some of the owners manuals suggestions were just too difficult in our situation. Smaller yards you can walk and physically set your GPS fence lines, not possible with acreage. There is an option to set fence lines on your phone and with practice i'm happy with my GPS fence settings.
We're several months in, I'm comfortable with the Halo collar. Once we trained Stella Blu to understand her boundaries, she now stays within our set lines. If she doesn't she hears a tone and she realizes that if she doesn't turn around more stern feedback is possible.
Now when i'm at work i can watch her run and play! She still test the fence lines but no longer goes more than a few feet before returning to her safe zone! At night i know exactly where she is and that alone is very comforting.
I will emphasize, you have to dedicate yourself to learning the collar, it's not always intuitive. But if you will zoom with a Halo CS rep that can be very helpful and speed up the learning curve.
I hope others can find the satisfaction i now have with a roaming pet.
