Patagonia Men's R1® Air Full-Zip Fleece Hoody

I found the R1 to be as promised…slim fit. While the medium was the right size (gauging from the shoulder seams to arm cuff), the body was snug. It is flexible and stretched around my torso, it was the snugness also in the sleeves that lead to my return. If you have a fit torso, and you skip tri/bi in the gym, you might find this perfect.

This is a nice piece of clothing, which fits very well. The sleeves are less overly long than many other Patagonia products. I do agree that the pocket on the front is practically worthless. You cannot put a phone in it. The temperature range of comfort seems to be fairly wide, not overly hot in yet available for colder temperatures as well.

I was looking for a semi technical piece that I could do aerobic hikes in during cooler weather. This piece is perfect. It’s not too warm. In fact for day-to-day use. It’s less warm than I thought it would be however, when I’m working out on the trail, it’s perfect. I’m an extra large, in most brands that I wear in. This fits well, and I’d say is true to size. Though it’s not loose or floppy, again exactly what I was hoping for and I actually really like the hood, it fits tightly around your head, much tighter than any normal hoodie and this is great for keeping the wind off your ears.

This hoody is a trailblazer! It can be used for climbing, hiking or just to wear with your jeans. The material is extremely comfortable, it breaths wells and nice to your skin. I highly recommend the R1 Air full for anyone wanting to buy a high quality hoody.

I’m pretty impressed. I run hot and always found the traditional R1 a bit too warm. But the R1 air works perfect for under my shell for windy below 0°f morning dawn patrol skin laps, and also for 10-15°f flying sofa rides. It’s comfortable. A little bulky… but also looks nice enough to wear to the cafe.
