Patagonia Men's R1® Air Full-Zip Fleece Hoody

Finally had a chance to wear this R1 skiing. I did wear a thin shirt under it. I coached all day in snowy conditions. Performed very well. I like to wear the hood under my helmet with a buff. I would say the hood is a bit big, at least for me. Also, wore this with a vest walking … perfect. 5-7 size small

I love the R1 air, it’s probably my favorite fleece in Patagonia’s lineup. Its tremendous airflow prevents overheating and enhances the ability to layer and then dump heat when needed. The durability of the piles, particularly on the elbows, isn’t tremendous, but I think that’s the cost of the softness and breathability. The hood adds to the technical usefulness at the cost of “style”, but I think it’s worth it. This runs very slim compared to other items in the catalogue, so I’d recommend sizing up.

the hype is legit. It's an incredible layer. The hood fits snug so it's like a cozy beanie that covers your ears. Nice and soft. I trend on the larger side of Patagonia's sizing charts. I am 6'1. 5" and 185 lbs wide shoulders and very happy with a large, even though the charts say Medium

I can't say enough good things about this hoodie. A staff member at Patagonia recommended it for my winter bicycle commutes. It works even better than advertised. I have commuted in sub-15ºF temps and this hoodie, coupled with a thin merino wool l/s sleeve base layer and a shell over it keeps me dry and toasty. It wicks super well and lets me ride without even noticing it's even there. I can't express how happy I am with this hoodie. It even motivates me to get out in the cold!

Layered this over lightweight wool base layer and under an insulated jacket. Hood fit well under my helmet. Retained heat, but not moisture. Would recommend.
