Ms Stormshadow Parka

Ms Stormshadow Parka

One of our warmest parkas, the hooded Stormshadow Parka is waterproof and insulated with 700-fill-power 100% Recycled Down (a blend of duck and goose down and waterfowl feathers reclaimed from down products). The adjustable hood, cinchable waist and brushed tricot-lined pockets add warmth and comfort. Phone pockets inside the handwarmer pockets and a zippered chest pocket that’s accessed without unzipping the parka also help conserve heat. Built from premium 100% recycled GORE-TEX ePE face fabric, which is partially made from BIONIC® recycled coastal and marine plastic sourced in Costa Rica, the fabric, membrane and DWR finish are made without intentionally added PFAS. Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.

Can handle a Winnipeg Winter no problem!

Amazing jacket. I bought this one and an insulated power town jacket in noveau green on crazy sale. I wear the Stormshadow in weather below -15c and it is warm in a tshirt. I have worn it in -40c with a baselayer and stayed warm while walking. Great Jacket!

Great Winter Gear

Well made and wonderfully executed winter jacket . I purchased it as a Birthday gift for myself, and, purchased a large that fits perfectly my 5 feet 9 frame with muscular build . I have yet to wear it , but , I am confident it will withstand all frigid temperatures with ease in winters ahead . Great job Patagonia in crafting great winter wear.

Finally a warm and GoreTex parka that works!

Canadian, always looked for a mix of GoreTex shell to handle humidity/water + winter parka like Kanuk (canadian manufacturer of winter parka)... Finally found it! With environmental global changes, our winter have changed... Cold, wet, hot, cold, rain, snow, wet snow, etc. name it... in one day. Need that kind of parka that can handle every condition. :)

Best coat I have ever owned.

I was reluctant to spend this much for a coat but I don't regret it now. It is waterproof, windproof, and warm. The side pockets are perfectly placed and useful. The sleeve cuffs work great. The hood fits especially well and is nicely insulated. This is the best coat I have ever owned.

Activist jacket for an active hiker/commuter

At nearly $1,000, it's a silky, bougie extravagance for staying warm on a warming planet. With each outing, you feel pampered. It has pitch-perfect coloring inside and out; subdued colors in the labels; and, whoo boy, that crinkle, especially loud in freezing air. It's the first jacket I've bought labeled with a QR code, along with a 100-word manifesto, inside. The jacket's fit-and-finish and minimalist packaging rival most Apple products. It is in its element when hiking in the rain or on the commuter train. I returned it after two days. The search for a successor to Patagonia's Wanaka Down jacket, a waterproof security blanket of down and quirk, continues. In 15 years of ownership, I've never had so many compliments about an article of clothing that I'm more fond of than some relatives -- a jacket that speaks to my inner Shaun White. Alas, they're both showing their age. Honestly, though, it's the allure of the newer, insulated waterproof jackets causing my Apple Pay trigger to twitch. I'd probably get used to the crinkle of the Stormshadow, which sounds like paper crumpling, especially in freezing conditions, along with its longer, suit-jacket length cut compared to the Wanaka's. The Stormshadow's sleeves are noticeably shorter, too. With the Wanaka, I need to pull back the sleeve to read my watch. Not so with the Stormshadow. Indeed, you'll find only quibbles at this price point. There are so many details to appreciate besides its smart looks. The chest-high pockets are ample and plush. The little storage pockets inside the hand pockets hold my wallet and car key. There's a dedicated hook loop inside, under the hood. And, cheese and crackers, it feels SO good to wear. Good on the team for making this thing a reality. I can't imagine the volume of work and years that went into it. I admire and support the company's planet-first thinking. Eventually, I'd be thrilled if you could apply the sustainable materials and responsible manufacturing know-how from Stormshadow to something more Wanaka-ish, i.e. a ~$500 dreamboat jacket. . . . . and at the end of the season, i'll probably check in again, when the GORE-Tax might be less, lol
