Ms Stormshadow Parka

Ms Stormshadow Parka

One of our warmest parkas, the hooded Stormshadow Parka is waterproof and insulated with 700-fill-power 100% Recycled Down (a blend of duck and goose down and waterfowl feathers reclaimed from down products). The adjustable hood, cinchable waist and brushed tricot-lined pockets add warmth and comfort. Phone pockets inside the handwarmer pockets and a zippered chest pocket that’s accessed without unzipping the parka also help conserve heat. Built from premium 100% recycled GORE-TEX ePE face fabric, which is partially made from BIONIC® recycled coastal and marine plastic sourced in Costa Rica, the fabric, membrane and DWR finish are made without intentionally added PFAS. Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.

Don't Go Off Model Size

The website had the model for this amazing jacket listed at 6'3" and weighing 180 lbs, which is my exact height and weight. However, they had him wearing a size Medium, which I bought and had to return as it was too small. Maybe if I never had to move around in it a medium would have been okay, but for snowboarding it was too small, the back lifted up past my waist when I bent all the way over in my living room to test out the fit, and that would not be fun in powder. Otherwise it's the usual Patagonia masterpiece ; )

Never be cold again

OK so the title might be hyperbole, but this is one seriously warm coat. I have no doubt it will serve me well this winter in frozen Wisconsin. The fit is roomy for easy layering. Hand warmer pockets are cavernous and well insulated (but not under the down) and feature a pocket within the pocket which is a nice feature. The zipper on this coat is buttery smooth, burly, and so satisfying to zip. The shell seems strong and waterproof so far. The only things that would make this coat better imo would be an exterior chest drop in pocket and maybe an inch or two longer, but I am being picky. Buy this coat and never be cold again!

Why bother layering?

This is my first Patagonia winter parka and the performance is sublime. I don't even need to zip it up, it's so warm. I only regret not buying something thinner because I like wearing more than a shirt indoors, but this coat handles it all already! Looking forward to having it last many years from now.
