Green Tea + Mint

I received this product as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel in exchange for my honest review. I was SURPRISED by this bug spray. I was a bit hesitant about the mint scent before trying it because I do not want to smell like my 90 year grandma that always reeked of the peppermint candies in her mouth. The scent was extremely pleasant and once applied, you really could not smell it at all after a few minutes. This was used while my kids and I played in our heavily wooded backyard that’s constantly swarmed with mosquitos and black flies. At the end of the day, nobody had a single bite! Even after my eldest poured sweat this spray stayed put and lasted. Application was easy and does not leave a sticky feel, you even forget you’re wearing it which I REALLY appreciated. I will absolutely be buying another can when this one runs out.

This stuff is like finding a unicorn. A-maz-ing! Our little family puts bug sprays to a high standard test. Daddy is one of those people that steps outside and every flying insect from a mile away smells dinner and sounds the dinner gong. They will even devour him through his clothing. Mama and kiddo are less bug-prone but we are super sensitive to smells and chemicals. Most big sprays are intolerable to us. Now enter the most amazing bug spray ever Grand Tongo Green Tea + Mint. We put it to the test on a typical Florida summer night and the only place Daddy got bit was through the single place on his shorts that he forgot to spray. Mama and kiddo were not bit at all. We also sprayed this around the air and table where we were sitting and the bugs disappeared instantly from their swarm. I also sprayed the ants on the ground by our feet and they left us alone too. The smell is wonderful because not only is it light and barely there, it is lovely and then disappears completely. You have to actively try to smell this stuff if you want to smell it but I don’t recommend because it doesn’t actually feel good to breathe it in (like I did). It is that non-existent. It’s smells slightly earthy but not in a dirt sort of way, more like a nice day type of way. The spray instantly absorbs and then also disappears on your skin leaving little trace that you have bug spray on. We sprayed our clothes too and they were fine. You have to make sure to cover every inch of skin though or the bugs will find the one place you miss. Mama and kiddo did not get a single bite all night. Normally I cannot go to bed with bug spray on but I forgot I even had this on and after about a minute you cannot even tell you have bug spray on. Keep on mind I am super scent sensitive and didn’t notice a thing. The only little con I can think of is that I don’t know how long a bottle will last because it is super light weight and you cannot measure how much is in there. I do not want to run out of this stuff and I will be stock piling it around our house, especially as hurricane season approaches. Grand Tongo is now our bug spray of choice for our whole family. I was very excited to get this product for the summer now that the bugs are back. I received this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. We spend a lot of time near Buzzards Bay in Massachusetts, where the no-see-ums and mosquitos can be unrelenting. We applied the spray at night (sitting in the back yard, walking the beach after dinner, etc. ) and it worked immediately. It hardly left a residue & the sent was subtle. I think calling it tea & mint isn’t super representative; it does smell like “green” — but I would describe it as a “vodka soda splash of lime” scent. Again, it’s a subtle scent that doesn’t hang around like other sprays. The only feedback I have (for all bug sprays): make a version that’s pocket sized. Carrying around the spray (for fear of needing to reapply) is always just slightly inconvenient enough to be memorable — especially when chasing toddlers.

I was excited to receive this bug spray because my family is constantly looking for a cleaner version that is effective. This spray delivers! We use this when we are outside playing and hiking and this spray is as effective as any that we have tried. Myself and my toddlers are no longer getting annoying mosquito bites! I also love that this product feels good on my skin. It is not tacky or greasy. The scent is also very nice! It is not overpowering and it has a unique fresh scent that doesn’t smell like your typical insect repellant. Big win!!!

Review Grand Tongo Green Tea + Mint Insect Repellent was provided to me by Stellar Panel for review. I live in a neighborhood with lots of walking trails that have lakes/ponds near them (with plenty of mosquitos and insects to boot). I enjoy walking with my baby and my dogs, but I do not enjoy the bugs that visit us during the walks. Since I have a baby (and pets), I have to be very careful about what I put on my body so that no one comes into contact with anything harmful to them. That worry is assuaged using the Grand Tongo repellant. It is safe to use for me and is not irritating to smell. I love the scent and feel comfortable wearing it around my baby and around the pets, which is a far cry from other repellants. The scent is pleasant and one I enjoy. It doesn’t have that cloying scent other repellents have on spades. I love mint scents AND green tea scents, so this was fantastic to wear. It was incredibly simple to apply and wasn’t a hassle to use on a daily basis on my walks. It was just basically another natural part of my skincare routine for going outside to enjoy nature.
