Good for wireless setup, not without a few shortcomings
Installation and setup were pretty straightforward, no issues there. The extension cable is good for mounting the panel separate from the camera and has a fairly tight rubber seal.Auto-track seems to work well. The recorded images are of good quality, whether day or night. However, it will miss people and vehicles coming straight towards and away from the camera and not record them. (I mean seriously, how do you miss a vehicle occupying 1/4 of the visible image?!) So you may want to consider a different model if you intend to mount this directly over your garage door. Also, if someone moves across the camera's field of view and stops, the recording also stops. This appears to be by design, but I would prefer that the camera keeps recording as long as the subject is within the field of view. A software update may be able to accomplish this by allowing the user to toggle a setting that tells the camera to keep recording until the subject is out of view. The feed is always ran through the internet, so if the connection goes down, you can't use Live View. Live View should be kept local any time the cameras and the device being used to view them are on the same network to avoid this security issue.Battery charging will not occur unless the solar panel is in direct sunlight - not shade, and not a cloudy sky. The panel will maintain the battery at the same charge level on a cloudy day, but will not increase it. This is the trade-off for having a panel that can be mounted almost anywhere due to its small size. This camera is ok as a supplement to a wired system. Due to the shortcomings mentioned above, it's not a suitable replacement for a wired system, in my.opinion.
