SoloCam S340

I originally started with Eufy with the 2C Pro and upgraded to the Eufy (S300). So I will be comparing this camera to the S300.I installed this camera next to my S300 and I am so happy with the SoloCam S340. First being a 3K camera, the picture is a lot clearer than the S300 with the 4K resolution. I have both cameras connected to my Homebase 3.This camera beats the S300 in terms of detecting people and the ability to follow the subject is far superior the S300 which is fixed on one view. I use the split screen mode so the top picture is panned out and the bottom one has the close up.If I had to start over, I would buy more S340 cameras and none of the S300. The bracket for the S340 is also better. You push the camera in straight. Then set the natural state of the camera.Since this is a camera for surveillance and safety, I am fairly aggressive with the camera. Each clip records for 60 seconds with 5 second of intervals between them. The clip doesn't end early if motion stops. Many times, with any Eufy cam, they poorly judge when motion stops and I miss a lot of details. I know this drains the camera more but why buy a camera if you are not going to use it to capacity?Camera gets 4 stars because the solar panel is a joke. It's a toy. Doesn't produce enough to keep the battery charged. If you are a power user like me, you will need to find a 6W or better USB C solar panel to keep this thing running. I would like to repurpose the smaller solar panel for another camera but the cord is ridiculously short. Yes, I get it. It sits on the top of the camera but if you need to move the solar panel somewhere else, your options are limited. The camera does come with an extension cable but it is very long at 10 feet.

I like this camera a lot with one exception-I can not disable the notification for this camera for more than 12 hours (snooze). All my other Eufy cameras can but not this one. I do need the notification from Eufy Doorbell but not from other security cameras-just need motion detection and recording, too many distractions otherwise. However, the notifications for this one can not be set more than 12 hours. Please update the firmware and add this feature.

Installed this because of package thieves. I live on a dead end so this covers a good part of the street. Wish the internal battery would last a bit longer though. It is winter months so the solar isn’t getting as much. Overall it’s a good buy.

I have many eufy cameras. The motion detection could be better but that’s like every other eufy camera. This particular camera works well. The solar charging works fine in direct sunlight with the panel aimed appropriately towards the southern sun. The night vision and zoom work great. The light is okay, not too bright. A few suggested improvements1. I wonder how well the movement of the camera will survive in snow and rain. Time will tell.2. The vehicle detection, please let me filter out vehicles like I can filter out people. Same for pets.A quick update. We have had some serious snow and freezing temperatures and lots of rain and the camera seems to work just fine.
