My 6-month old is now interested in books!
I agonized over whether or not it made sense to sign a baby up for a book club and I am so happy that I did. Prior to Literati, I had limited success getting my 6-month-old to listen to a book. When we opened our first box, as fate would have it, A Potato on a Bike was sitting on top. I took the book out and read it to my daughter while my husband watched. She sat still and watched the pages the entire way through. When I finished, my husband said, "She paid attention for the whole thing." It is still her favorite book three months later and she smiles every time I show it to her. Literati showed me how important it is to have a variety of book options to show my baby so that she can make the selection herself. Otherwise you're just flying blind when you buy a book and hoping that your child will like it. Each month there are always two books that my daughter loves and pays close attention to, one that she is sort of interested in, and two that she won't even look at when I try to read them (!). I always keep the books in the first two categories and send the other two back. We are slowly amassing a library of books for her that she is genuinely interested in and hopefully she is developing a life-long love for reading.
