As I said in the
As I said in the review for the train set, the train, itself is really good quality and worth the price, but I have a few gripes with Hornby, the company...
For one, when I went to buy some extra coaches to make up a complete train, only additional brake vans are up for sale. You can't buy additional coaches. Coaches are just not made. This doesn't make any sense.
Another problem is that I want to convert the locomotive to DCC, but Hornby decoders for this particular loco have been discontinued. I suppose I can use any 8-pin steam loco decoder and nobody will notice, but that's still a bummer.
On the positive side, I appreciate that the train I bought from Hornby, like most British model trains, use NEM sockets for the couplers. As an American, I was able to replace the British Tension Lock couplers with American Kadee couplers easily.
