My old custom Flying V
My old custom Flying V board fell from my roof rack and got broken so I need to get a new board. I’m 5’8”, 130lbs, 7.5 size boots, and I consider my level at intermediate. I did a lot of research trying to find a board that can help me carve better, and also can do steep terrain short radius turn. I mainly ride on the icy coast but maybe once a year travel to rocky mountains or Whistler, so I need something that has good edge hold and also has some powder capability. I eventually selected Warca, with a the Bataleon Astros fullstrap binding. Warca has relatively wide waist and together with a camber, it really helps with carving - the heel edge hold was much more stable than my previous board and it won’t wash out at a point where I would wash out with the Flying V. For some reason I can even do toe to heel dolphin turns that I could never do before. I didn’t feel slow edge change, maybe because I kept reasonable speed. Short radius turn on black diamonds is actually quick and nimble. Haven’t tried it in powder or in woods but will update when I got a chance. So far I think it’s really fun to ride this board and I feel it’s absolutely underestimated.
