Very disappointing experience
My experience ordering the powerdot was terrible. There was a special deal listed on the front page that said next day shipping using a promo code. I used the code, which by default selected the "VIP shipping" option. I figured this was the next day shipping option. There was also a next day shipping option in the list of options, but it was $19 extra, so I didn't select it. When the order hadn't shipped after a couple of days, I contacted them about it and they sent an email letting me know it shipped standard delivery (7-10 days, I think), since that is what VIP shipping is. It was awfully coincidental, too, that I got the shipping notice about a minute before the customer service rep emailed me about it shipping standard. I checked the status right then, and it just said the label was printed and the package wasn't picked up. I'm guessing they could have stopped the shipment and changed it if they were motivated enough.
The customer service rep also made me think I was crazy saying that all of the shipping options should have been listed as $0 and I should have selected next day. This was definitely not the case. I tried it on multiple computers with multiple browsers and had other people try it and next day shipping was never free. I sent screenshots, since they kept insisting. From everything that I could infer, it just seemed like they were intent on not footing the bill for next day shipping. They just wanted it to *seem like* you could get next day shipping until you place your order.
I would have been ok with it normally, but I was trying to get this delivered before Christmas. I would have also been ok with the error on their website, but the customer service person was very short, and borderline rude in responses, never apologized for the bad experience and instead insisted that I must have done something wrong. They could have offered to ship another overnight and have me send back the late one, but didn't offer anything to make it right.
Overall, the ordering process was vague and misleading. I was very disappointed with the who process, including customer service.
Above this request for a review from PowerDot, they say "We are committed to customer experience and would love your help to improve the experience for others." No one ever reached out to me about my bad experience after sending a follow up email, so I guess that's just lip service to attract new customers.
