A disaster. . . camera died on the fourth snorkeling trip.

Despite carefully checking the seals before heading underwater for my fourth snorkeling session, the equivalent of two tablespoons of seawater got inside after just an hour. That was enough to kill my Canon EOS R6 and—even after rinsing—cause rust on numerous components outside the camera body. A watertight seal is maintained by tightening a threaded ring, but there is no mechanism to lock the ring in position. Temperature fluctuations or movements can cause it to loosen at any time, leading to water ingress. Furthermore, contrary to what was announced, I had to pay an additional €38 in customs duties.

Outex case ruined my camera

The camera case shipped very fast however, on the fifth time using the case, sea water got into it and rendered my camera inoperable. I still need to work with a shop to see if it is even able to be repaired. I used the Outex case exactly how it should have been and it was water tight the first four times I used it. I’m not sure if there was a hole in the rubber or if it was leaking from one of the seals but I was very upset to see that it did that. I do have photos of how much water got in but I’m not sure if I can upload them here.
