Kept camera dry but lots of downsides
So let me start here: It kept my camera dry. Def was worried but I kept checking and it kept it dry. So win there. The front glass element is excellent. But that’s where it ends. The big issue is that it overheats my camera so much. I was shooting a commercial lifestyle shoot in the Caribbean and despite it being in the water it overheated. It even turned my camera off twice because it needed to cool down. The controls are practically unusable through the rubber. Once you spin a dial or button the suction just spins it back. Any single drop inside from taking it off, instantly adds condensation and makes the back glass unusable. Speaking of removal, super hard to remove the rubber sleeve. Even removing the rubber at all between shots or anytime is extremely difficult. Not user friendly at all. Also makes you scared you’re going to rip it and completely destroy your camera. It’s also extremely slippery when doing lots of action shots. Shooting a commercial lifestyle campaign of people and real expressions, you are moving nonstop and getting over/under shots. And this “housing” is tough to hold on to. Forget even zooming in and out. Just difficult to use in general. Can’t switch controls. Barely seeing anything. Overheating the camera. But… kept the camera dry. I still managed to get great underwater photos but am not looking forward to using this ever again. I’d take an aquatech housing with pistol grip any day over this.
