Bomber CR: Best Upgrade Ever
As a slightly heavier rider (225lbs) I was bottoming out more often then I liked on the fairly basic air shock that came on my Norco Sight which, otherwise, is an amazing bike.
I was quite intimidated by having to pick a coil but I did a bit of research and asked Support a ton of questions. They were super patient and gave me advice on which coil should work.
I finally pulled the trigger and I'm so glad I did.
I installed it myself (get a removal tool first if you choose to do that - they cost about $30 and will be way easier than fudging it with sockets and a vice like I did) using the hardware from old shock. I set the two minor adjustments to their midpoints, tightened up the collar above the coil to what ended up being about 25% sag and hit the trails.
I literally couldn't believe how much this shock improved my landings from drops. Medium drops at speed that used to be fairly jarring are now like hopping off a curb. On slightly bigger drops where I have to really focus, I now drop way softer and have a ton more room for error.
Also, when I compress the bike on the faces of jumps, it seems to give back more energy than the old air shock did - I'm clearing tabletops with less speed than I used to need and landing smoother.
Can't wait to see how it does at Whistler this year.
