Total hip replacement- running on my 8C!

I had a fractured femur and then a total hip replacement. I am a runner but surgeon say no more, so I pivoted and now run on my 8C! Most closely mimics the running motion and I get a great workout! I’m 63 and 4 months post total hip and can go all over! These videos are my first time riding!

I love this bike. I've had it for years, and it's almost entirely maintenance free. Excellent engineering, and great for comprehensive workouts (with weights added to the front basket, a weighted vest on me, and preference for riding on grades as much as possible).

So much more than just a fun way to ride and stay fit.... You become a part of the most amazing family!!

Far from what I'd call a pro, I still know my way around a bike and was intrigued when I first heard about ElliptiGo. I'd actually heard from a friend about seeing what looked to him like a stair-climber on wheels. An online search brought up a couple pages showing pictures of just that, but it was the ElliptiGo.com page that stopped me(!) So two guys have this crazy idea to take their elliptical machine out of the gym and into the streets, by building it onto a bike frame...? I immediately started reading reviews, watching videos from the site, and searching out independent ones on YouTube. This thing looked amazing, and I signed up for a test ride with Peter M, over on the west side of town. Peter called me, asked about my cycling goals, and what kind of riding interests me (roads and sidewalk, dirt trails, mountain biking). We talked for a good 40 to 45 minutes, Peter answered every question I could think of, and we scheduled a time to meet the following weekend. While he was already sure which model would be the best for me, Peter wanted me to ride saved decide for myself. After riding all three SUBs (SUB, MSUB, RSUB), along with the Arc 3 and 8c, I chose the RSUB and began working out his to get one ordered. Peter put my in touch with Erin in California, who is a true pro when it comes to service(!) She helped me work out financing, and my new black RSUB was on its way. At the time, shipping was through FedEx, and a signature was required. Knowing that, you can imagine my surprise when coming home to a notice on my front door --with big, bold letters and a large arrow-- indicating that my package was placed over the gate on the side of the house (6ft wooden privacy fence). I found the box, dented with small tears across two sides, and called Erin to let her know. I had to leave her a voicemail and Erin called me back within an hour to follow up, appalled at that driver's actions, and walked me through opening the package to ensure everything looked alright. Erin encouraged me to take light rides over the next few weeks, and watch for any trouble. Thankfully, everything was fine... ʘ‿ʘ After taking done rides with a friend, who IS a pro cyclist, he suggested upgrading from the standard 8 gears to an 11-speed cassette. We spoke with the local bike shop he typically goes to, and they refused to even try...(!) Even though the only difference between a "regular" bike and mine is the fact that I have no seat, they wouldn't touch it. I reached out to 6 other shops in town, and received a flat NO every time. My only option left was to reach out to the ElliptiGo service department, and hope they could help me. Enter the amazing Keri, who is SSOOO knowledgeable and encouraging(!!) We talked over my struggles with some of the hills here, how even in first gear I'm literally just standing with all of my weight on one pedal. We talked out a few options, noted that my cyclist friend could show me how to swap the hardware (cassette, derailleur, shifter, chainring and chain), and asked me to send updates. Honestly, this company is so above and beyond when it comes to service and attitude! They care about every rider, and want to see everyone be their absolute best. The relationships I've been able to build with Peter, Erin, and Keri, are priceless. When our daughter needed a new set of wheels, Peter offered to let her take a SUB for the weekend to try out and see what she thought. She of course was hooked the minute she took off(!). Erin helped me once more, we refinanced MY bike, and added a new SUB. Now, two years since taking my first ride, we've just added an MSUB to our home and it is absolutely fantastic!!!
