SoFi would not accept my application for loan consolidation because my debt was too high in relation to my income. However, my situation is typical for people who went to college in the past 15 years or so. SoFi is missing out on an entire generation that is heavily burdened by student loan debt and a struggling job market where even people with master's degrees have trouble finding internships or entry level jobs after graduating, and bachelor's graduates often have to work in food service because there are no other options. Unlike SoFi, CommonBond was understanding of this generation's needs by offering a very competitive interest rate and reasonable monthly payments. CommonBond even went as far as paying a month's loan payment as an apology for making a minor calculation error on a loan document. I am very satisfied with CommonBond and would recommend it to the countless other millennials burdened by crippling student loan debt and the terrible job market.
