Long Time Customer
I've been using Butane powered irons for probably 30 years. The early ones were not always satisfactory. I've been a Portasol user since they were first introduced. A few years ago, I got one of these new Weller Portasol P2Cs and I think they have really dialed things in. I love the built-in igniter. No more flints like I used to deal with. The translucent tank is great so you can have an idea of how much fuel you've got.
Most of my soldering is low voltage wiring in the field. It's great to be able to solder something without stringing an extension cord out at the end of a driveway or up on a man lift.
These irons, although small, have enough power for just about everything you'll encounter. I would say the spec of them being 25-75W equivalent is about right. Unless you plan to solder a bunch of heavy wire, or to large pieces of copper, you should be good.
The tips change easily and there is a pretty good selection.
Great tool for the money. For me, this item is a must-have.
