Detroit in World War 1
Very interesting book on Detroit and Michigan's involvement in the World War. It is nice to read about something other than the "Polar Bears" or 32nd Division from Michigan.
My knock on it would be that the photos are from newspaper sources and did not include original unit histories like Base Hospital 36 or the 16th Regiment of Engineers (Railway) which were two All Volunteer units that were mobilized and trained in the city limits of Detroit (State Fair Grounds) but get very little coverage in the book.
If you want to know what Detroit contributed to the war effort, I would recommend this book. I bought it and learned a lot.
