I’ve been wanting to try tallow for awhile, but was hesitant because my super power in life is smell, and any hint of beef soaking into my skin would be redolent with smearing a sweaty burger on my face—and I could not handle that. Yet, I’m in my forties, and though I wish I didn’t care about the newly formed wrinkles on my forehead, or the eleven lines that are seriously angry and domineering, and have taken the reproach to yell at passerby’s by etching a permanent foreboding onto my face… I do— like, seriously, I really do care. So, I started looking for beef tallow, hoping it would moisturize my forties away. I settled on lavender honey, and had very low expectations since I’m allergic to most products. When the tallow came, I immediately ripped that box open and stuck my nose to the jar, absolutely praying that it would be void of any remnant of beef. And… it was! Seriously, and I can’t express this enough, the smell is sooooo good. The lavender and honey aren’t overpowering, but offer just enough aromatics to make you sigh with both relief and enjoyment. Also, and this absolutely needs to be said, the moisture that this whipped tallow delivers to your face is better than ALL the super expensive—and I mean REALLY expensive moisturizers, creams, and oils that I’ve been buying for my face. In fact, I have fully stopped using those jars that cost hundreds of dollars, and am only using the tallow. My checking account has never looked healthier. Because I made a pretty big deal of introducing my forehead wrinkles and eleven-squatters, I realize that I should probably answer how all those lines are fairing? In short: it’s complicated. Fine lines have definitely disappeared near my eyes, and the forehead lines have softened, but those elevens have set up residency, and I think I need to make peace with it. Altogether, this product is amazing. The moisture factor can’t be beat, and the rest of my face has a clear, even skin tone that almost looks equal parts dewy and glowy. My skin actually looks better now—minus the forehead—than it did twenty years ago. Also, I have started my teenager on it, and her acne appears to be better, too! She chose the citrus tallow, and it smells so good, you could eat it. I’d give it ten stars, if I could. But since I can’t, I bought three more jars and am currently hoarding them.
