Product Review & Feedback on My Recent Orders
Dear Wancher Team,
Thank you for reaching out for my feedback. While I appreciate the craftsmanship of your pens, I must be honest about my overall experience, which has been deeply disappointing.
SPECIFIC ISSUES:
1. Import Duties Crisis (Orders #1125910643WP & #1125910644WP):
I placed two orders totaling approximately $2,200 USD in mid-February. Upon arrival in Vietnam, I was informed by customs that I would need to pay import duties of approximately 33% additional cost on both orders—roughly $725 USD in unexpected fees—and handle all import paperwork personally.
Although your website contains small disclaimer notes stating that customers are responsible for destination country taxes, these notes provide zero guidance on actual cost estimates or the magnitude of potential duties. This is fundamentally deceptive, as a typical customer has no way to anticipate that the true total cost could be one-third higher than the listed price.
2. Opportunistic Upselling (Order #1125910663WP):
When I discovered a quality defect on a third pen and requested an exchange, your team (Mari) presented two options: a 3-5 month pre-order with $50 discount, or an upgrade to the Tamesukashi version for $100 off ($1,100 → $1,000). Rather than honoring a simple replacement, you leveraged my dissatisfaction to secure an additional $900 USD in revenue. This prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction.
3. Withholding Better Alternatives:
Through independent research, I discovered that Wancher has a local distributor in Vietnam—Tiệm Bút Shiawase—which would have offered significantly better pricing and eliminated import duties entirely. Your team never mentioned this option, instead routing me toward full-price international orders with hidden costs.
CLOSING THOUGHTS:
I appreciate the artisanal quality of Wancher's products. However, I've learned that premium craftsmanship is only as valuable as the transparency and integrity with which it's sold. I hope Wancher will reflect on these issues and consider whether the current approach truly serves customer interests—or primarily serves another agenda.
Sincerely,
Phuc Nguyen
