I was looking for an amp to drive a pair of Harbeth M30. 2 XD, which have a benign impedance of 6 ohms but also a sensitivity rating of 85dbm. I had heard the Harbeth's would sound best with a SS amp of at least 100W in order to hear what the speakers do best. I had also heard the speakers liked highly refined and expensive amps. The Ayre fit the profile I was looking for. The amp sounds excellent (with a VAC tubed preamp) and has great control and authority. Bass is noticeably more impactful than my previous amp and has much more detail and life. It's the most insightful amp I've had the pleasure of using. Plenty of power and slam. I'm very happy with this choice. Ayre is a brand I've always lusted after and the investment was worthwhile.
