This sunset sailing experience was purchased for us as a wedding gift and was meant to be a special way to spend the last evening of our honeymoon. Unfortunately, it did not match what was advertised or what we were expecting.
When we booked, the confirmation email stated there would be a total of four guests on board, excluding the crew. However, when we arrived, there were nine guests. The smaller group size was one of the reasons we chose this experience, as we were looking forward to a quiet, romantic sunset sail.
We shared the trip with another couple who were very kind and respectful, and we enjoyed their company. However, there was also a group of five women on board who were extremely loud throughout the cruise. They played music from a phone that often drowned out the saxophone player and made it difficult to enjoy the atmosphere. They were also smoking cigarettes for much of the trip, which left us breathing in smoke and smelling it for the entire two-hour excursion.
To make matters worse, the sails were never raised. There was plenty of wind, yet the boat was operated entirely by motor for the duration of the trip. We specifically booked a sailing experience, so it was disappointing not to sail at all.
This was our final night of our honeymoon, and we had been looking forward to a relaxing and memorable evening on the water. Sadly, the experience was neither the intimate sunset sail nor the sailing excursion that had been advertised. Looking back, we wish we had chosen to spend our evening elsewhere.
