My grandmother's cello came by steam ship with her from England in around 1900. She died in 1963 and the cello lived in our hall cupboard for years. Finally, with the sale of the family home it was time to pay the instrument attention and we took it to Simply for Strings for assessment. After a year of investigation, restoration, hand whittling and painstaking hole filling, Danny and Michael pronounced the cello complete. Over the journey we were kept updated with photos, research details and stories of those who were witness to the restoration. Our family cello, which was built by William Cross in Oxford, England in 1730 has just been returned sounding rich and glorious Applause to Michael for the Faure, Bach and exemplary service and Danny for his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
